One-on-One FAQs
What Is Reformer Pilates?
Reformer Pilates is a resistance-based training method performed on specialized equipment called a reformer. Unlike mat Pilates, the reformer uses spring tension to create both support and resistance, making the workout more dynamic, more controlled, and often more intense.
The reformer allows for full-body training while reducing impact on the joints. This makes it ideal for:
-
Building deep core strength
- Improving posture and alignment
- Enhancing flexibility and stability
- Supporting injury prevention and rehabilitation
- Reducing back and knee pain
Because resistance is adjustable, sessions are tailored to beginners, experienced practitioners, athletes, and those recovering from injury.
5 Things to Know Before Your First Reformer Pilates Session
If you’ve never tried Reformer Pilates before, here’s what to expect:
- It Looks Intimidating, But It Isn’t. The reformer moves with you and often assists your movement. Many first-time clients are surprised by how intuitive and empowering it feels.
- It’s a Low-Impact, High-Result Workout. The spring-based resistance challenges your muscles while minimizing joint stress.
- Your Core Is Always Working. Reformer Pilates emphasizes spinal alignment, core activation, and controlled movement throughout the entire session.
- It’s a Full-Body Workout. Expect squat variations, upper body strengthening, planks, mobility work, and stretching in every session.
- Equipment Is Used Intentionally. Attachments such as straps, stability tools, and resistance accessories are incorporated to deepen the workout and enhance results.
