Get to know MINT Cycle instructor Erin Reagan!

August 22, 2021 by mint-sk

Erin is a lifelong athlete that grew up playing team sports, and then got into fitness classes. After years of attending fitness classes in both DC and Philadelphia, she decided to challenge herself and get her cycling certification through the Spinning® program by Madd Dogg Athletics. She now harnesses her years of athletic experiences to lead enjoyable and innovative classes at MINT.

Erin teaches Rhythm Ride MINT Cycle classes, which are beat-based rides with on-bike choreography and upper bodywork. They are a combination of dancing on the bike, heavy climbs and quick sprints. The music and playlist play a big role in each class — there’s nothing better than a great beat drop that leads into a full-out sprint! Each class is designed to be 50 minutes of fun AND a great full-body workout guaranteed to work your arms and abs in addition to lots of cardio.

She prides herself on offering an open space for all, whether it’s your first spin class or 100th. She aims to mirror MINT’s welcoming environment in every class she teaches and really enjoys making connections with the people that attend her class.

Outside of MINT, she loves to run and bike throughout DC – her favorite trail is the Capital Crescent Trail. She also enjoys acai bowls at South Block, taking Barre classes, and exploring new restaurants and wine bars with friends.

You can take Erin’s Rhythm Ride class Wednesdays at 5:30pm. Sign up for MINT Cycle classes here.

MINT Cycle classes have something for everyone and are fully scalable to meet you where you are in your fitness journey, and whether you’ve never set foot on a spin bike before or use one regularly. No matter which instructor or class you take, there will always be options offered and you are in total control of your effort.

Cycling is a great low-impact option but is also conducive to pretty much any kind of workout you may be seeking. You can use the monitors and data from the bike to measure progress and ensure a tough workout, or you can just sweat it out and enjoy your ride without focusing on the numbers.

You can expect a MINT Cycle class to be a little bit of everything! In general, all instructors use the beat of the music to guide the movements, but if you lose the beat, nothing bad happens – you just keep going! There will be a mix of flat roads, climbs, speed, and some choreography on the bike that will engage muscles you don’t always think about using when cycling. Even the dance moves incorporate resistance and good form to help you get stronger.

Each MINT Cycle instructor brings their full personality to their class and their rides reflect that – some have lots of intervals, others use MINT’s Coach by Color technology, and some mimic riding on the road outside. If you don’t totally connect with one class, try a few others – they are all unique and odds are one will feel just right for you!

At the moment, all indoor classes are for fully vaccinated members and visitors. You’re required to upload a photo of your vaccination card to our Safety Screening Form. Classes are capped at 10 people so save your spot now!

Get to know our GM – Bresni Maldonado

July 4, 2021 by mint-sk

Bresni started working at MINT in December 2011 as a concierge at MINT Downtown. Over the years, Bresni has taken on several roles at MINT that has helped expand her knowledge within the fitness industry. Bresni’s vast experience, friendly personality, and go-getter attitude are all things that make her an incredible General Manager. She recognizes that it takes a village and she is incredibly appreciative of the amazing MINT team that she has had the pleasure of working with.

When asked what the favorite part of her job is she responded with “I love building relationships with both the staff and members.” Since re-opening in June 2020 Bresni has had the pleasure of getting to know several long-term members and new members in a more meaningful way. She loves seeing the excitement of members who have not been back to MINT since March 2020 and are ready to get back to their routine. It is truly a special moment to witness and it’s something she never gets tired of.

She shared that the staff and MINT’s genuinely friendly and caring approach is what makes MINT truly unique! It’s not typical to have one on one connections and personal greetings between members and staff whether it’s checking in to the gym, coming in to take a class, or meeting with their trainer. This has always been part of MINT’s foundation since its inception and continues to be an essential part of MINT to ensure everyone who walks into MINT feels included, welcomed, and safe.

Even with our masks on, you can guarantee that there’s a smile behind them. Next time you see Bresni in the gym feel free to introduce yourself and say hello!

July 3, 2021 by mint-sk

As the health and safety situation has evolved in DC, MINT’s health and safety considerations have evolved as well. As of July 2021, when you visit the club you can expect:

Clean, sanitized equipment – All equipment is thoroughly and frequently wiped down with top-grade disinfectant. You can read more about our standard of cleanliness here.

Masks for staff and non-fully vaccinated patrons. Fully vaccinated members are not required to wear a mask in the club but must upload a photo of their vaccination card to the safety screening form to confirm their vaccination. This must be done 24 hours before your visit.

7/30/2021 MASK UPDATE: Due to the most recent government mandates, starting Saturday, July 31st at 5 am masks must be worn indoors, regardless of vaccination status.

Crowd control – Appointments are still required for entry to ensure everyone has plenty of room to exercise comfortably and maintain healthy traffic flow. We continue to offer more space per person than mandated by the government so we can prioritize health and safety.

Friendly faces are still here to greet you and answer any questions you have. Our staff, trainers, and instructors are excited to see you back in the gym and in class.

High quality gym experience – MINT is still proud to offer tons of cardiovascular equipment, fully-equipped weight training rooms as well as a new stretch space and Intensity studio. Members can use rent iPads in our various studios to access virtual classes on-demand at the club.

Indoor classes – Starting the week of July 5th we will be offering the following indoor/hybrid classes! Our team is working hard to increase the number of indoor classes.

  • Monday 6:30pm RhythmRide with Taylore
  • Tuesday 6:30pm PowerBox with Enrique (July 13)
