Meet MINT Group Fitness Instructor Maddie Roger!

Maddie Roger Fitness InstructorMaddie’s classes are sassy, classy and a little bad-assy. She brings her incredibly high energy to every session to make working out the most enjoyable experience it can be. You will walk away with an extra boost of confidence and a smile on your face.

Her class will kick your booty in a safe way that works for your skill level and pushes you to unlock a stronger version of yourself. She believes time is our only nonrenewable resource and if you trust her with yours, she will make it worth your while.

Maddie was a competitive dancer for 15 years and was eager to find a new way to keep moving her body when she entered college. She started taking Barre and Dance fitness classes at the university sports facility which she loved. Eventually, she also found her inner power lifting heavy things in a strength-based class. She went through instructor training her sophomore fall and has been instructing ever since!

She has always considered movement to be her medicine, and fitness taught her how to express herself, grow her work ethic and build confidence. Group exercise in particular led her to both personal growth and a built-in support system. As an instructor, her goal is to create a community where participants can see their individual rewards and also have fun and make new friends.

Since moving to DC a few months ago, Maddie has started to embrace outdoor running in Rock Creek Park. Her favorite place to go for a healthy meal is the CAVA down the street from her apartment. She says, “After spending a few summers in the Middle East, CAVA allows me to reminisce on my travels while enjoying a filling, lighter meal. (Honestly, they should hire me after that line–I may have missed my calling in advertising.)”

New Fitness-Floor Reservation System

Members,

Over the past 16 years, we’ve consistently heard how much our guests love the amount of space each member enjoys while at MINT vs other fitness facilities. We pride ourselves on this positive feedback as it has been a purpose-built amenity that we continue to prioritize as we grow. We are excited and happy to announce an evolution to this practice!

Effective January 1, 2022, enjoy the following new fitness-floor reservation system:

  • General club access appointments are available every 15 minutes (replacing the current once-hourly system)

  • As always, members enjoy unlimited appointment ability

  • Limited space per slot will continue to ensure you continue to enjoy room to breathe and social distancing

  • Reserve online or with our MINT app

  • Reservations are always strongly recommended, but drop-ins ARE accepted on a space-available basis

  • Please reserve with intent, and be sure you check in, including a second check-in for back-to-back appointments

Please note:

  • Cancel anytime up to 30 minutes prior

  • No-show/late-cancel fee is $5.  Fee waiver requests are considered on a limited basis for emergencies you may experience: GM@mintdc.com

  • Phone reservations or adjustments are not available

FAQ’S

  • Are class appointments still in effect? Yes

  • Do I need to schedule a gym appointment for my PT session? No

  • Can I drop into the gym or a class? Yes, pending space availability.  If the gym or class is full, respective access will not be available.

  • Can I be in the gym over the one-hour booking? Yes, please book consecutive appts, AND be sure to re-check in at the front desk for the second one.

Dear members,

Happy holidays! We are more grateful for this incredible community than ever, thank you for your continued support and loyalty through this trying time. Good news; we’ve secured a new long-term lease for MINT, a special thanks to our landlord for working with us through this pandemic. As MINT enters 2022, recovery is more important than ever. Over the coming months, you may see ‘deals’ for new members. We appreciate your understanding that we must be aggressive to regain members to remain a viable business. With almost 16 years under our belt, we are confident we will swiftly grow again.

Meet MINT Cycle Instructor Kelly Valerio

Kelly grew up playing sports and has always enjoyed moving her body. In college, she started lifting weights at the gym, and eventually, her time at the gym led her to spin classes. She quickly grew close to the instructors and asked for advice on how to become one herself! From there, she took an online certification course through MadDogg Athletics and got her first job at LA Fitness.

MINT Cycle Instructor Kelly Valerio

She wanted to be a fitness instructor to meet other people as they navigate the highs and lows of their exercise journeys. She aims to share her upbeat and positive personality with others through her spin instruction. 

Her class is high energy and designed to let her riders enjoy the music and the experience of spinning. Her goal is for people to leave feeling confident – if you showed up and rode, that in itself is an accomplishment that she wants everyone to leave feeling proud of.

Kelly just moved to DC and is always looking for new places to hike! She loves cooking at home and she works for Marriott International in their PR department. She also loves to make TikToks @livewellbykell. You can also find her on IG @kellann__.
